Back home for a day...

So here I am back in Durham. Ah, my bed. My pets. It's a good thing. But I can't get used to it, because I go to NYC tomorrow. But first in the morn, I have a real interview at Adam & Eve. But I get home, and right after I picked up Elle, my car started overheating. ARGH!!!!! I should have just gotten a new car. And I just went to watch stuff I tivoed this week, and it's all blank! That's happened a couple of times now. It's the cable. I have to restart it. Blah. Beth is gonna take me to my interview tomorrow, and Katie is gonna pick me up and take me to the airport. Life savers! I can't take my car in til Monday I guess. Anyway, I shouldn't go to NY, but I am. I need to get away and not think about my car. LL

Really quick...

I'm in West Virginia visiting my newborn nephew! He was born on fridat at 8am, and was 9 lbs 3 oz. (He was delivered early, so he wasn't quite 11 like they thought)... He is so cute! I finished my blanket for him too and it rocks. I want to make a big version for me, but it will probably take a while... I'll probably do it with cotton remnants between projects. Anyway... still no job, but I'm trying. There's another position i'm shooting for at Adam & Eve, and may start temping soon at UNC. They called today to finish checking references. I go to NYC on friday, and it's not a good time, but It will be fun i'm sure. LL

I finally have tv and internet!!

My butt hurts. I still don't have a couch, so I'm sitting on the floor with my computer watching tv. Still no job. I had an interview with Tar Heel Temps, so hopefully that will come thru this week. I have my mtg with Adam & Eve tomorrow. My sister has her C section scheduled for 7:30 am friday. Yay!!! I need to finish the baby blanket. I'm almost done with the knitting part, and then on to seaming. Yuck. LL

Mother's Day weekend

I am in Charlotte, visiting Mom. Tomorrow we'll go see Meemaw. Still haven't found a job. My Adam & Eve meeting is this week, but I'll go to Tar Heel Temps before then. I also need to get a NC driver's license and all that while I have time. And I need a couch... and a box spring... and a desk. And a man. Heehee. I need to be properly welcomed back to the south. But I did find my vibrator while unpacking, so that's good. Haha! LL

And on we go...

The rest of the trip wasn't quite as interesting... but one thing that did happen was when we stopped to eat at Cracker Barrel in Gallup, NM on Weds. We were sitting there and suddenly Meemaw looks up at the wall by our table and says, That's my aunt Neal. Yes, there was an old picture on the wall from the 20s of her aunt! Crazy! Turns out their decorations come from Tennessee, which is where her aunt lived.... On we drove thru New Mexico, and Texas. We stopped for the night in Amarillo, TX. We got there right in the middle of torrential rain. Yuck. It had stopped by the morning though. On we went on Thursday thru Oklahoma, Arkansas, and finally landed in Memphis late that night. Because of the car set back, we didn't have time to go to Graceland like I hoped. Friday we went thru Tennesee and finally arrived in Eastern time and North Carolina! Still a few hours from Charlotte though. And the route we took went thru South Carolina a bit too, but we finally got to my mom'

Arizona sucks ass.

Sooooo... Monday we got underway about 8:30. Bye bye rowena ave! We drove along just fine, stopped in Upland at Chick Fil A for breakfast... yum. Then on to the 15, and finally, yay, the 40! Smooth sailing from now on, right? Wrong! About 2:15pm, the expected unexpected happened. My car decided to freak out. Of course. We were driving along, and suddenly we felt us drive over something, and there was smoke and dust behind us. I didn't see anything in the road, so I figured it was a blow out or something. It had to be right? After all, I just had $2000 worth of work done on my car! Pulled over. Tires were fine. Saw nothing around in the road... nothing under the car.... okaaaaaay. Let's keep going. That was weird. Then the battery light came on. Oh great. We were in the middle of Arizona... somewhere. I decided to see if I could make it to the next exit. Luckily, it was only a few miles away, and we made it. It was a little cute town called Seligman. There was even a car shop ri

The Meemaw Chronicles begin

So Sunday, my grandmother, or "Meemaw" as she will now be called, arrived in Burbank around 12:30pm. We went straight to Pasadena where I needed to sell the last of my dvds. While we waited, we ate one last time at Roscoe's and Marri and Pete met us there to eat and say goodbye. After lunch, we went back to the apt, where I had a lot to get done. I did laundry, and took out all the trash, and packed, and cleaned and everything. Then we went to bed. Both of us on my air mattress with the pets. Yeesh. The adventure begins. More to come! It got pretty exciting on Monday. LL

Well, I'm finally able to get online...

So far, it's been an interesting trip to say the least. There have been many obstacles, worries, and snafus, and it's only just begun! Let's see how much I time to write right now... i'm so tired. First of all, friday, my last day at work, I was supposed to get Meemaw's box of clothes for the trip. Cuttin it pretty close, I was worried it might not arrive in time. But it did. Phew. Saturday, the truck was supposed to come to load my stuff. They told me it would probably be morning, but the driver would start communications with me on friday and tell me his schedule. No word from anybody on friday. So i called the office in Tampa friday afternoon, but of course they were closed. Left message. A guy finally called me back saturday morning, and said they were trying to reach the driver. I still didn't hear anything after like an hr and a half. So, i called again, and this time, they supposedly got in touch with the driver, who would be calling me soon... Ha. They s
