I had a visiting praying mantis at work today. We don't get much wildlife on the 7th floor.

I'm serious. Dook has branded my chest with a big D. And it hurt. Yeah, i'm kidding. But I DID get an offer to be permanent, which I accepted. So now i will hang my head in shame at Carolina games, or maybe wearing sunglasses will suffice. I start officially on Sept 24th. Yay! Went to dentist for cleaning: Owee! I'm really starting to hate going to the dentist. I swear I wanted to slap the hygienist and yell, "I HATE YOU!!" They put this flavored fluoride foam in my mouth so I looked like a rabid dog. Set up a lunch date next week with a dude from match. He's probably already googled me and found this by now. Haha. My exciting life. For all to see. uhhhhhh... yeah. I was also matched with a guy I work with. Funny. Craft night is tonight, and i think the numbers are rising this week. Oh YEAH... they are repiping my apt starting today. UGGGGGGGHHHHH. I did my first Swaptree trade! I traded a knitting book for a video game. It was very easy. If you haven't heard of it, you should sign up. www.swaptree.com You basically list books, dvds, cds, and video games that you are willing to trade for something else that you list in your want list. Then the site automatically matches you up with potential trades. Then you can accept or reject the trade and just pay a couple of bucks shipping. You can even print a label from the site for shipping. Awesome!

Everything is getting on my nerves. Blagh. I put together my table last night, so now I have a proper dining setup. Yay! LL

I finally got that huge heavyass tv that Leigh gave me out of my car, up the stairs, into my apt, and on top of my dresser. All my by myself. I was totally numb afterwards, but I only had to stop about 7 times. Now I can sit lazily in my bed and watch up to channel 99. And once i get an adapter, i can plug up my PS2 and play games, or watch dvds and porn! Haha!

I slept most of the weekend away. I did get the hood latch on my car fixed though, and it was cheap, but unfortunately some paint came off when they took the tape off that had been holding it down. My car becomes more and more ghetto. I caught up with all the Big Brother I was behind on in my tivo. So I finally got to watch some of the Flight of the Conchordes I had saved. So funny. I was crying. So now my tivo is refreshed and ready to get behind again after going to the beach this weekend. I checked on my place in line at Ravelry... I'm only like 11500 people away from getting in! Oh boy! Ravelry will be my new obsession when I get in. It is kind of like Myspace for knitters and crafters. I can even post my yarn stash on there, and it will tell me what I can make with it. Crazy cool. LL

Glad for this week to be over. I plan to have a relaxing weekend doing almost nothing. Or at least nothing crazy. My apt complex is having a pig pickin tonight... i guess i'll stop by cause you can enter to win a rent discount next month. I need that. I had a baaaaaad day at work yesterday. Busybody bitches at work. I started to rethink working here, but it would be like that in any office. Have a good weekend. LL

otherwise known as the dentist. This morning I had one of my bonded teeth fixed. It huuuuuurt! They numbed me after a while though, and now I can't even feel myself pick my nose. Haha! It looks better though. I'll have to get the other one done at some point. I need a complete overhaul on my teeth. I need to get braces again. Ugh! Maybe i'll do it one day if I can ever afford it. Then I need to whiten them. Then I need to get Veneers. Which are expensive. And knowing my luck, i'll have to get my wisdom teeth pulled. LL

I feel disgusting. I need a shower. I got home late last night and was too tired. I know what my plans are tonight! Um, I went to the most awesome craft store in the world in WV! I spent way too much, but got a lot! I bought 40 skeins of wool yarn for ONE DOLLAR each! Amazing. Now where to put it... LL

It's raining. Hard. We need it. I just hope it's not too bad for my drive later. I was going to leave work at 3, but my boss said i could leave earlier if i want, between us. I love her! I think I'll leave at 2. So both Elle and Brooklyn have ear infections. elle is just getting over hers. now i have to treat brooklyn. It'll have to wait til i get back from WV though. I should be coming home after this weekend with my table base and a tv for my bedroom. Yay! Now i can watch tv/dvds before I go to bed, or if i want to be lazy. but no tivo there. i'll hook up my PS2 to watch movies/play games. Craft night was god last night. My friend Sara came. She made some jewelry and i knit. LL

Tomorrow, I am implementing Craft Night on Thursdays at my place. A couple of girls I met are coming. And hopefully a few more will come every now and then. But I am dedicating every other thursday to crafting. It won't be the same without Marri and Beige though. I went to a class today to learn the timecard system at Duke. I will become in charge of it for my whole dept if I become permanent, which seems likely since they made me go to the class. I was the nerd of the class. It took 4 hrs... and could've been less than an hr. But there were several slow at computers types there. The instructor made me stop answering questions at one point. LL

I finished HP7 and liked it, but now I am sad that it is over. But I do have a ton of books waiting for me on my shelves. I picked up a cute knitting anecdote book today that i have. Once I read it, I will give it away. It's not the sort of thing you'll use again. Need to make room for more knitting books! Going for bbq with Beth today. Yum. I haven't had it since I moved back. I took a 2 hr nap after work yesterday. It was awesome. I would do that everyday if I could. LL

Had a cheap facial and went to brunch with my dining group. But this weekend I will start going out of town again. I am going to WV on friday once more before they move. I found out today that I can't become permanent at Duke until the end of Sept. I'm halfway thru, but it still sucks. That means Labor Day will be unpaid. At least I have insurance. I'm gonna get my teeth fixed next week. I finished the back of the polo shirt i'm knitting. On to the front! LL

Leigh called this morning and said there was a tornado in Brooklyn and an earthquake in Chatsworth. I hope "they" don't find me here! Maybe they'll throw a hurricane at me... They have 2 new styles of Keds with birds all over them that i want!!! I am obsessed with birds lately. Ginny would hate that!! I guess i've always been obsessed with birds though... i think i'm part bird. Too bad I can't fly. Unlike PeeWee. Still only halfway thru HP7! LL

I got the bed together last night and boy was I sweaty! Took a cold shower and crashed afterwards. It was nice to sleep slightly higher! And it's still low enough for Elle to jump on without a step. But it's too low for my underbed storage box, so I guess I'll be getting rid of that. But now I'm ready for sleepovers! Come on over! LL

My new bed... I got the instructions, and started putting it together last night. The screws are a bitch to put in. My hands hurt today. We'll see if I can get some more done if not all tonight. My boss is back today. What a relief. Once she's caught up, I'll talk to her about becoming perm. I'm leaving early today cause I'm taking Elle to the vet. She needs a rabies shot and heartworm stuff... and I think she has yeast in her ears again. Argh. LL

It was the first weekend in a month that I stayed home with no real plans, and it was awesome. Friday nigth, I did stay out late at a "girl" party. I was able to offer my expertise, and i bought a couple of things as well. Saturday, I went to lunch with Beth and Isabel and ran a couple of errands. Yesterday, I had lunch with this guy I met at one of my dining outings. I thought maybe we would hit it off, but he drove me crazy!! I did borrow a book on CD about opening a business though... so i'll be listening to that in my car. Next weekend, I have more things planned, but I'm still here, so that'll be be nice. But then I'll be ready to go away again... to WV. I started to put my new bed together this weekend, and realized it was missing the instructions. Argh!! I'm having a good hair day. Yay! LL

Dear Blond Guy, We shared some good times in the 20 words or so that we spoke... but I'm afraid I must end things before they get out of hand. It seems that you have a lonely wife waiting at home for you in Seattle, and I feel for this poor woman. I am a true lady and will not hone in on such a situation as this. I can't believe the bridge collapse in Minneapolis! I actually watched live tv and the news last night. crazy. now i kinda know how the rest of the world felt on 9/11... watching it on tv makes it seem so unbelievable, like it didn't really happen. being there is another story.

went to el rodeo monday night for dinner with mark, beth and isabel. yummy. last night, i went to my knitting club. met some new people. one girl invited me to an adult party on friday night. when i had mine it was fun, so i'll probably go. maybe i can offer my expertise. don't know if i'll buy anything though. i certainly don't need to! havin lunch with the ladies today. and my accountant eye candy accountant from seattle is back today... he hadn't come in for a week. don't know his name, so i refer to him as blond guy. oh blond guy, how i adore you.
